After the failing of Operation Battleaxe, Auchinleck succeeds Wavell as British CinC Middle East. Wavell appointed CinC India.

Middle East

Free French forces occupy Damascus.

Yugoslavia: King Peter and Yugoslav Prime Minister, General Simovic, arrive in London.

Neutrals

Russia: 1,500,000 children to be evacuated from large cities.
