Air War

Germany – Climax of ‘Big Week’: 830 bombers of US 8th AF (30 lost) and 150 bombers of 15th AF (35 lost), with fighter escorts (8 lost), attack Messerschmitt works at Regensburg and Augsburg (Bavaria). Americans claim 142 fighters shot down. 1,000 fighters are destroyed on assembly lines and 1,000 more lost due to temporary disruption of production.
528 RAF bombers drop 1,728t bombs on Augsburg in two-wave night attack.
