Atlantic: Destroyer HMS Cossack torpedoed by U-boat U-563 (she founders, under tow, October 26).

Occupied Territories

Russia: In reprisals for assassination of Rumanian General at Odessa, 19,000 Jews are rounded up and shot in city and further 40,000 taken to collective farm and massacred.
