Two German Type IX U-Boats
Two German submarines meet far from the home. The U-boat group ‘Polar Bear’ consists of Type IX long-range submarines.

Sea War

Indian Ocean: U-boat ‘wolf pack’ Eisbaer (‘Polar Bear’) sinks 28 ships off South and East Africa (October 7-November 3). U-boat U-179 sunk by British destroyer Active.
