Mediterranean: Cruisers Dido and Euryalus, with 6 destroyers, bombard harbour of Rhodes (night March 15-16).

USA: Death of Rachel Field, author of ‘All This and Heaven Too’; aged 47.

Occupied Terrories

Norway: Group of Norwegian patriots seize Oslo-Bergen SS Galtesund and sail her to British port, arriving March 17.
