Eastern Front

Galicia: Lechitski repulses German attacks on Bukaczowce-Halicz front in east but retreats to river Gnila Lipa, while Südarmee occupies Halicz and Mackensen advances to river Bug until next day.

Western Front

Britain: Prime Minister Asquith discusses desirability of replacing Field Marshal French with Haig.

Home Fronts

Russia: War Minister General Sukhomlinov resigns (jailed for suspected corruption), General Polivanov succeeds.
Germany: Socialist paper Vorwärts suppressed for publishing peace call.
