Sea War

Operation Rheinübung (‘Rhine Crossing’): Battleship Bismarck and heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen leave Gdynia (Baltic) to attack Atlantic convoys.

Occupied countries

Yugoslavia – Croat delegation arrives in Rome to offer Crown to Duke of Spoleto: he is subsequently proclaimed King Tomislav II of Croatia, but returns to Italy after a short visit to his new ‘kingdom’ (relinquished throne in 1943).
