CVE ‘Block Island’ of the Bogue class was commissioned on March 8, 1943.

Germany: 8th USAAF attacks 5 Focke-Wulf and 2 Messerschmitt plants in East Germany and Poland.

New Guinea: First tank battle in Southwest Pacific fought on Biak Island.
