Middle East

Gallipoli: Monro estimates evacuation loss at 30-40%, visits Egypt until November 8.

African Fronts

East Africa: Tighe orders planning for Kilimanjaro offensive. Prelim deployment approved (November 29).


Britain: Asquith declares Serb inde­pendence essential war aim and compulsory service possible.
China: Government rejects Japan’s advice re royalist movement. Princes vote for monarchy (November 5).

Home Fronts

Britain: Asquith pledges single men call up before married, conscription only by general consent.
