Solomons: Japanese artillery and bombers pound Henderson Field on Guadalcanal.

Sea War

Atlantic: German disguised raider Komet attempts to break out into Atlantic from Le Havre, under heavy escort (night October 13-14), but is sunk with all hands by British MTB 326.
Pacific: Japanese fast battleships Hiyei and Kirishima bombard Henderson Field (night October 13-14).
