Operation Barbarossa: GERMAN TROOPS CAPTURE KHARKOV (East Ukraine). Stalin appoints Zhukov to command northern half of front; Timoshenko to direct operations in the south.

Air War

Germany: 64 RAF bombers attacking Kiel and dropping 64t of bombs.
