Southern sector: Russians recapture Dnepropetrovsk Dam.

Occupied Territories

Burma: Burma-Siam Railway (‘Death Railway’) completed by Allied PoWs and native coolies. Death Railway victims: 93,000 dead including 6,318 British, 2,815 Australians, 2,490 Dutch, 356 US.
