Western Europe: FIRST ‘ALL-AMERICAN’ BOMBING RAID OVER EUROPE IN WW2. 12 B-17 Fortress bombers of 8th AAF, led by Brigade-General Eaker in ‘Yankee Doodle’, attack Rouen marshalling yards; 4 Spitfire squadrons fly as escort.
