Africa

Western Desert: British 8th Army push west from Buerat.

Sea War

Mediterranean: ‘Inshore Squadron’ of British Mediterranean Fleet delivers supplies to 8th Army, advancing along North African coast (January-February). Cruiser Dragon transferred from Royal Navy to Polish Navy (name not changed).

Home Fronts

Britain: Hugh McAteer and 3 other IRA ‘officers’ escape from Crumlin Rd Prison, Belfast (McAteer recaptured September 1943).
