Air War

Mediterranean: B-24 Liberator bombers destroy Axis GHQ at Taormina (Sicily). British 1st Airborne Division and US 82nd Airborne Division land in Sicily (night July 9-10).
Germany: 255 RAF bombers attacking Cologne and dropping 1,614t of bombs.
