Eastern Front

Operation Barbarossa: German troops capture Yalta (Crimea).
Siege of Leningrad (Day 63): Germans capture Tikhvin, east of city, and sever vital rail link.

Sea War

Mediterranean: Large Italian convoy destroyed in Central Mediterranean by British ‘Force K‘ (cruisers Aurora and Penelope, destroyers Lance and Lively).
