Strategy Games August 2020

News from Call of War, Supremacy 1914 and Conflict of Nations in August 2020.

Call of War

Attention General, today we introduce the reworked version of the Army Bar in Call of War on all platforms! The new army bar provides your players with more useful information, highlights the most important stats, and unifies the look and feel on desktop and mobile. Players can now immediately see what action their army is currently executing, or how many hit points the army has. The army bar now also tells you what doctrine the army belongs to, by displaying an image in the background.

For desktop generals, we also reworked the style of the command buttons which can be found above the reworked army bar. The command buttons will be updated for Android and iOS in a future release as well.

Army Bar:

  • The new status section in the army bar highlights important attributes of an army.
  • Activity icons and timers for current army actions (e.g. time until next attack) were added.
  • The doctrine of the country an army belongs to is highlighted in the army bar.
  • The condition boost button was added to the army bar on mobile.
  • Command buttons are now displayed in a new style above the army bar on desktop.

Call of War 1.5 Balancing:
Attack Bombers deal slightly more damage against light armor class units and ships.
Production and research costs for Battleships, Destroyers, Railroad Guns, and Paratroopers were slightly increased.

General changes:
Image quality is now automatically adjusted according to the memory available with a device to improve performance.
Only close allies block 3rd party units from conquering an ally’s province.
Nations with “shared map” or “shared intelligence” block 3rd party units from conquering provinces, while nations with “right of way” don’t do so anymore.
The sorting order of Ordnance units in production and research interfaces for CoW 1.5 games was adjusted.
“Army Strength” was renamed to “Garrison Strength” in the province morale tooltip to make it clearer that the strength needed to suppress a revolt is calculated differently than the army strength.

Supremacy 1914

The latest release brings a lot of quality of life improvements for mobile players! The army and province info popups received an overhaul and got a lot of information added to them. The information available at every general’s fingertips will allow them to base decisions on the latest intel there is, no matter where they are.

A new feature was implemented that automatically adjusts the image quality in the Supremacy 1914 app according to the memory available on the mobile device. This might slightly lower the image quality on low-end devices but will significantly increase the performance of the game.

Although a lot was done for our mobile generals, many changes affect desktop generals alike. Like the change made what allies can protect each other’s provinces from 3rd parties when the owner is not around to defend themselves. Now only close allies which players trust with “shared map” or “shared intelligence” can help out at the home front, befriended nations which only share “right of way” won’t be able to counter an enemy attack on province any more unless they declare war on the enemy themselves.

General changes:

  • The army and province info popup on Android and iOS was reworked and important information added to it.
  • Only close allies block 3rd party units from conquering an ally’s province.
Nations with “shared map” or “shared intelligence” block 3rd party units from conquering provinces, while nations with “right of way” don’t do so anymore. This change was made to address the issue that 3rd party units were blocked from conquering provinces when their ally had “right of way” with the attacked nation.
  • On mobile, image quality is now automatically adjusted according to the memory available with a device to improve performance.
  • “Army Strength” was renamed to “Garrison Strength” in the province morale tooltip to make it clearer that the strength needed to suppress a revolt is calculated differently from the army strength.
  • Explanatory headers were added to the buy and sell tables of the stock market on mobile.
  • Buy and sell tables of the stock market on mobile now have expandable panels to hide/show offers.

Conflict of Nations

With the full mobile release, rapidly approaching, the team used the past weeks to implement a multitude of additional features that will enrich not only the mobile apps launching into the app stores in September 2020 but also made it onto the battlefield of your desktop generals. Without further ado, let’s get to the main changes that have recently been introduced to the game.

Mute diplomacy button:
We’ve all come across them, the keyboard warriors who command their chatboxes more than they do their army. We have heard the cries of community members; recruits and veterans-alike requesting us to introduce a way or method to mute someone. With this update, we have ushered in this handy tool to accompany you on your quest for diplomacy domination. What this means is that messages sent through the messaging tab under the diplomacy panel, by the muted player, will be obscured from your view with the aim of bringing you peace of mind next time you log on, allowing you to focus on global domination.

Retreat Feature:
The Retreat command has made its way into the Early Access application of the game! A self-explanatory button. Should units find themselves in a losing battle, this command will order them to swiftly retreat through a neighboring friendly province (hopefully accompanied by backup).

General changes:
As the magnitude of small changes made especially to the early access applications would exceed the frame of this news we advise players to check the full list of all changes that can be found in-game: conflictnations.com.

Upcoming Event rotation:

RISING TIDES
At a time where the planet has been devastated by accelerated climate change, peace and certainty are luxuries of the past. Nations that were once considered everlasting superpowers are fractured, as all of the mankind scrambles for what little remains.

OVERKILL
In a modern world gone mad, even the smallest countries prepare for all-out war. Can you find enough allies to survive the gathering storm of hostile nations?

MIDDLE EAST CRISIS
From the Arab-Israeli conflict to the fanatical Islamic State and its war in Syria, the Middle East today is at the epicenter of world events. • PLAYABLE TERRORIST NATION: The Caliphate
